Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made history on Tuesday by being selected as the first female presidential nominee by a major U.S. political party, with the Democratic Party delegates at their national convention here, in a roll call vote, proclaiming her over her rival in the primaries, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

U.S. to allow "caregivers" for CentAm kids to request asylum

The U.S. government announced Tuesday that it will permit Guatemalans, Hondurans and Salvadorans living legally in this country to request asylum for their children and for people they are "caregivers" for - older siblings, parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents - and it will also cooperate with Costa Rica to allow entry for the most urgent cases.
