The board of directors of El Corte Inglés, Spain's foremost luxury retail store chain, has dismissed Dimas Gimeno as president of the group and appointed Jesús Nuño de la Rosa as his successor, the company told EFE on Thursday.

Nuño de la Rosa was one of the two CEOs the group had promoted since the end of last year when Gimeno was stripped of his executive duties.

"He is a person of outstanding solidity, under whose management the Corte Inglés' Travel Agency was turned into Spain's top travel agency," a company source told EFE. "He is also a man of consensus who has successfully carried out the group's refinancing," the company added.

Nuño de la Rosa's appointment should enable the group to "return to unity and normality" after months of public confrontation, the source told EFE.
