Melbourne, Australia, Jan 16 (efe-epa).- Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, Marin Cilic of Croatia and Russia's Karen Khachanov moved into the third round of the Australian Open on Wednesday.
Tsitsipas, seeded 14th and the only Greek representative at the event, defeated Serbia's Viktor Troicki 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 and will face 19th seed Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia in the next round.
Sixth-seeded Cilic, finalist at last year's edition, overcame the spirited American Mackenzie McDonald 7-5, 6-7(9), 6-4, 6-4 and is set to face 26th seed Fernando Verdasco of Spain in the third round.
Tenth seeded Khachanov from Russia, who had defeated world number one Novak Djokovic at Paris Masters 1000 in October last year, sailed past Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
He will compete against the winner of the match between Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut and the Australian John Millman in the next round.
