Samba schools Friday stirred the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo that, overcomed with joy, officially welcomed the carnival with a tribute to women, black people and Jesus Christ.

A yellow tide flooded the 530 meters of the Anhembi sambadrome at 11.20 pm, while the public, still scarce and amid the cold, went crazy when they heard the scream that inaugurated the carnival in country’s most populous city.
