Rapper Jay-Z has became the most-nominated artist in Grammy history, after receiving three on Tuesday.
He now has a total of 83 nominations, ahead of Paul McCartney, 81, and Quincy Jones, 80.
Until Tuesday, he had been tied with Jones, but after the announcement of the contenders for the 64th awards, Jay-Z and McCartney took the lead with three and two nominations, respectively.
Jay-Z has not released new music this year and his three nominations come from two collaborations that hope to take out Best Rap Song: "Bath Salts" with DMX and Nas, and "Jail" with Kanye West.
In addition, Jay-Z could win a Grammy for Album of the Year as he appears as one of the composers of "Donda," West's album that competes in the biggest category.
