China on Tuesday announced that it was set to lift restrictions in Wuhan, the capital of the central Hubei province where the COVID-19 originated, on Apr. 8 as the number of fresh cases have dwindled in the region, although the country has registered a spike in imported cases through travelers arriving from global hotspots.

The rest of the cities in the Hubei province are also set to lift restrictions on operation of public transportation Wednesday onwards, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
