Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde said on Monday that there will be rotations in his squad for the upcoming La Liga match against Celta Vigo.
Barcelona is looking to give some of its players a break in the lead-up to Saturday's Copa del Rey final against Sevilla, and Valverde did not rule out Lionel Messi taking a rest during the away match against Celta on Tuesday, saying "It's a possibility."
"It's clear that tomorrow there will be changes in the team, because we're in an important week. We're coming from intense matches and on Saturday we have the Copa final," Valverde said at a press conference.
He stressed that Celta are "important opponents" and usually put on a good performance against big clubs.
Valverde also praised Celta, saying they are strong "on the counter attack and also their positional play," and that "they have a player up front, Iago Aspas, who is having an incredible moment."
Valverde admitted that his side's unexpected elimination from the Champions League quarterfinals against Roma was "very painful" and did "a lot of damage," but after beating Valencia 2-1 last Saturday and moving a little closer to the La Liga title, "the team is better."
Unbeaten Barcelona leads La Liga with 82 points, 11 points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid, while Celta is in ninth place with 43 points.
