Bayern Munich's Spanish coach Pep Guardiola was deemed the first Bundesliga coach to ever read at the House of Literature in the Bavarian capital by German media on Wednesday, after he read poems by late Catalan poet Miquel Marti i Pol.
Guardiola recited poems before an audience of 300 people on Tuesday during an unusual reading that attracted media attention.
The Spaniard said he had maintained a strong friendship with the Catalan poet until his death in 2003.
It was the first time the prestigious cultural center invited a Bundesliga coach to read, Der Spiegel weekly magazine reported, noting how Guardiola also answered questions related to his work with Bayern Munich.
The coach said that poetry is private and something typically enjoyed in the privacy of one's own home, while he also reminisced about his relationship with the late poet.
