Jon Rahm, who birdied the two final holes of the US Open for a tight victory, retook the number one spot in the Official World Golf Ranking updated on Monday, having sat on top of world rankings twice before, once in July 2020 after the Memorial and later in August for his 13th place in the PGA Tour.

After 2020 champion Bryson DeChambeau dramatically failed to defend the title, Rahm managed to overtake Louis Oosthuizen by only one stroke in the last two holes, making him the first Spaniard to win the American tournament on Sunday.
