Czech tennis player Marketa Vondrousova on Sunday won her first WTA open at the inaugural Ladies Open Biel Bienne in Biel, Switzerland, after defeating the Estonian Anett Kontaveit 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) in the tournament's final.
The 17-year-old world's No. 233 managed to win the title after taking out the tournament's top seed Barbora Strycova in the semifinals.
Vondrousova should move up at least 110 spots on the WTA rankings are released on Monday.
At the age of 17 years and 293 days, Marketa Vondrousova has become the youngest WTA title winner since the Croatian Ana Konjuh won the 2015 Nottingham Open at 17 years and 169 days.
The Ladies Open Biel Bienne is a WTA International tier tournament that offers $226,750 in prize money.
