Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, ranked 5th in the world, said that he exerts "daily effort" to overcome the "anxiety" that affected his results in 2015, stressing that he is preparing with a great deal of enthusiasm for this year's season in clay courts, which begins in Monte Carlo.
During the presentation of the 6th edition of the "What really matters" Majorca congress of which Nadal is the honorary president, the Spaniard said "Last year I was competing against myself and this year I am competing against rivals."
"I could not get over the anxiety," Nadal said, adding that he has already passed that stage and feels he is enjoying a good period in the meantime, which will enable him to play his "favorite period of the year" as he is considered to be history's best clay court tennis player.
Nadal confirmed that he has trained very well in recent weeks and his withdrawal from the Miami Open was due to fatigue suffered as a result of sub-tropical temperatures.
"I love what I do. I will train while I am happy. I do not feel anxious while playing. I do not have last year's issues," Rafa declared.
