San Antonio Spurs center Pau Gasol became EuroBasket's all-time top scorer Thursday after bagging 20 points in Spain's 87-64 win here over Hungary.
The 37-year-old Gasol broke Frenchman and Spurs teammate Tony Parker's record with a three-pointer to reach 1,105 points and added nine more before the end of the game.
"I am very happy, but above all grateful to all my teammates in all the teams I was part of," Gasol said. "And I am happy for achieving that feat today, and so we can focus on our next rival in the last 16."
Parker scored 1,104 points in eight appearances at the tournament between 2001 and 2015.
"My sport is a team one, without a team - teammates and managers - without their work, things would not have worked out. The first thing to do is to show gratitude to the people around you, who work with you, take care of you and trust you," Gasol added
In third place on the list of all-time EuroBasket top-scorers is Germany's Dirk Nowitzki with 1,052 points, followed by Greece's Nikos Galis with 1,030 points.
